Help us be world class
Help us be world class
We’re Scotland’s public sector auditor. We scrutinise how around £40bn of public money is spent each year and how public services are performing.
We’re independent of the Government and our work is crucial to ensuring public services are delivered well. There’s plenty of change ahead and we’re determined to provide a world class service.
We already employ about 280 talented professionals and we’re looking for people to join us in Senior Auditor and Qualified Auditor roles.

About the roles
Stephanie Harold and Taiba Hussain
We're looking for fully qualified accountants for our Senior Auditor role, and either part or fully qualified accountants for our Qualified Auditor role.
We offer excellent opportunities for learning and development once you are here, and we also place a real emphasis on effective people management, enabling and engaging individuals and teams to make a great contribution. In return, we offer a range of other benefits.
Closing date: 8 April 2019
This role has allowed me to lead on audits for both large and small public sector bodies mainly across the central government sector. The variety of work means that every day presents new challenges, and that’s what I find great about the role. I can find myself presenting to audit committees, meeting senior staff in the audited bodies or working at Audit Scotland with groups of trainees.
Audit Scotland has provided me with both technical and personal development training, and this has really supported me in my day to day work.
Stephanie Harold, Senior Auditor
During my time at Audit Scotland I have worked across several audits which has allowed me to gain valuable experience in health and local government sectors. Working on a variety of audits, both as a lead and as a member of the team, has helped my personal development and allowed me to build my skills managing relations with key client staff.
I’ve also had the opportunity to work with new trainees. Being able to support them has been a rewarding experience.
Taiba Hussain, Auditor
The last two years have seen unprecedented change in Scotland, the UK and internationally. With more change to come and a fair amount of uncertainty, public audit has never been more important. Find out more about the work we do below.
What we do
We audit 224 bodies across the public sector, including central government and the Scottish Parliament, local councils, NHS bodies and further education colleges.
Financial devolution in Scotland
We've undertaken a range of work looking at how devolution is changing the landscape for public finances, and how well key bodies are preparing to manage Scotland’s new powers.
Transforming health and social care in Scotland
Our ehub includes reports we've done around health and social care integration as well as an animation and other resources.
Early learning and childcare
Following on from our report earlier this year on early learning and childcare in Scotland, we produced a video and parent's guide explaining what's available.
