Vicki Bibby has been appointed the new Chief Operating Officer of Audit Scotland.

Vicki is an experienced leader in Scotland’s public sector and joins Audit Scotland from her current role as Director of Strategic Planning and Performance at Public Health Scotland, a post she has held through the Covid-19 pandemic. She has also previously worked at the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA) as Head of Resources and Chief Finance Officer.

Vicki said:

I am delighted to be joining Audit Scotland. This is an exciting and important time as public audit responds to the significant challenges and opportunities facing Scotland’s public sector. I look forward to focussing on how we develop and shape our organisation and the ways we work, to ensure we can do the job Scotland needs from us now and in the future.

Audit Scotland strives to be a world-class organisation that delivers world-class public audit. I am committed to this and to making sure that our work has an impact and makes a difference to the lives of people and communities across Scotland.

Stephen Boyle, Auditor General for Scotland, said:

We are thrilled that Vicki will be joining us. We are excited by her vision and the experience and skills she has as a leader, particularly in performance and strategy. Vicki will be a key member of our new Executive Team that we are reshaping to ensure we have the leadership and strategic capacity and resilience we need.

The need for high quality, robust and independent public audit has never been more important, as Scotland’s public services tackle many pressures and demands. I look forward to working with Vicki as we change and grow for the future

Vicki will join Audit Scotland in late summer. She succeeds Diane McGiffen, who left Audit Scotland in January after more than 20 years to become Chief Executive Officer at the Law Society of Scotland.
