Publication: Fire and Police - Performance indicators 2000/01

by Accounts Commission

The main finding of the report is that, although modest, there continues to be an overall improvement in the performance of Scotland's police forces and fire brigades in 2000/2001. Overall, police forces cleared up 44% of crimes, which is a year on year improvement since 1996/97 and a 1% improvement on the previous year. Scotland's fire brigades attended about 84,000 reported fires in 2000/2001, 2,500 more than the previous year. Despite the increase in the number of fire calls, brigades attended slightly more, 91.7%, within agreed target times, than last year (90.8%).
