The overview of the National Health Service in Scotland for the financial year 2000/01 highlights the continuing financial pressures facing Scotland's NHS trusts. Eight trusts failed to achieve break even in 2000/01 with accumulated deficits totalling nearly £54 million, £24 million more than the previous year.
